Extraordinary General Meeting – 12th February 'The Emerging Context for CLCs - planning for our future' - CLC Managers' Event
The aim of the above event in Birmingham is to start us thinking about possible future models of operation for our centres, and to consider some scenarios and responses to them. Obviously until there has been a general election and/or the next Comprehensive Spending Review (CSR), we won't know the context, but it is important to start preparing in a positive way for changes on the horizon.
The event will take place at Austin Court – for details please follow this link:-

Format of the day
The final programme will be determined by the end of the month, but it is scheduled to be a day of discussion with short keynote input from our colleagues in Becta, and possibly other relevant partners. If you have any suggestions for content or approaches on the day please don’t hesitate to send them to

who will represent them in the planning meeting.
You can also use the Forums on the website and the comments section below to add any suggestions or discuss anything you would like to raise.
The day will be designed to have relevance for all circumstances, for example whether you work closely with your host school, are integrated into your local authority or deliver services for BSF or 14-19. Our colleagues at Becta have also offered to assist us for the day and we look forward to their participation. It is intended to focus positively on sharing our success stories, whether it be involvement in commissioning activities, the development of commercial models of operation, delivery of training through sold services or working regionally.
It is also proposed that part of the day’s business will be to consider 4 possible scenarios:-
-
-
No funding scenario
-
Partial funding scenario
-
Continued funding scenario
-
One other (tba) e.g. change of core function
To get the widest participation we are supporting the day with the 'Quick Feedback' system that Richard Clarkson from Leicester is using very successfully in his LA. This will enable those few colleagues who are unable to attend physically to contribute to the day.
Thank you to all CLC managers who have responded to Roger Neilson’s short on-line survey. If you haven’t yet seen it please follow this link:-

It should be emphasised that the figures requested can be guesstimates - please don't feel you have to start number crunching!
